| BIRDWISE CRUNCHY MUNCHIES PRODUCT LINE BIRDWISE Crunchy Munchies Dehydrated Mixed Veggie Snack Ingredient List: dehydrated fresh-frozen vegetables: sliced green beans, whole green peas, whole corn, diced carrots, sliced okra, whole lima beans, chopped broccoli, kale, seasonal: zuchini slices, sweet potato slices are grown organically in the BIRDWISE garden. Crunchy Munchies Dehydrated Vegetables are veggies that have been frozen fresh then dehydrated. It is important to keep in mind that fresh vegetables contain the same nutrient and caloric values before and after dehydration. The only thing that occurs during dehydration is that water is removed from the foods, nothing else. Bear this in mind when divvying portions of dried veggies or any dried foods to your birds. If you would normally only give your bird there green beans then only give it three dehydrated green bean; the same follows for mixed veggies. If you would normally feed your birds a teaspoon of fresh mixed vegetables, then only feed it a teaspoon of dehydrated vegetables. It’s that simple! Mixed Veggies are meant to be used as a healthy, nutritious snack or snack alternative, not as a whole complete meal and should be fed on that basis. No single food or mix of one category of food alone makes up a completely nutritious food for a bird. I believe birds should be fed several brands of pellets, fresh veggies and fruits, whole grains, and as treats, an appropriate seed and/or nut mix. Dehydrated veggies can be fed as a snack but may also be used instead of fresh vegetables sometimes. Because dehydrated foods are crunchy they aid in exercise of a birds beak and muscles which is a very good thing. Besides, birds just love crunchy stuff! NOTE: No other foods, ingredients, or additives are contained in this mix. The veggies are not as attractive to the human eye as freeze dried “dehydrated” veggies, but they are 100% nutrition. While freeze drying preserves the color and size of a food it takes exponentially longer as a process while dehydrating using dehydrating machines is a very quick one, a matter of hours at the most. I believe that these dehydrated foods are the most nutritious foods available that can be stored safely over a long period of time, years actually! BIRDWISE Crunchy Munchies Basic Dehydrated Beans Ingredient List: Dehydrated: black beans, black-eyed peas, garbanzo beans, green pigeon peas when available, great northern beans, red kidney beans and pink beans. Soon to be added are the following: black beans, pinto beans, small red beans, red kidney beans, small red beans, roman beans when available. BIRDWISE Crunchy Munchies Dehydrated Bean Mix Basic consists of both canned beans that have been rinsed to remove some sodium, and dried beans that have been cooked in water, drained and dehydrated in a dehydrating machine. Beans are an excellent source of protein for captive birds that need two sources of protein per day; one simple and one more complex protein. In the past many folks fed their birds eggs as a main protein source but we have recently discovered that egg yolks have been contributing to and causing the number one cause of death in captive birds. It is strongly advised that birders now omit eggs from their birds’ diet except in rare instances. In place of whole eggs, the chosen alternative is a natural egg white product such as All Whites. Birds can be fed egg whites in place of whole eggs without any com- promise in nutritive value whatsoever. In addition, a wide variety of beans should be fed to birds as one of their protein sources. Crunchy Munchies Dehydrated Bean Mix can be served as whole dried beans to large birds but can be crushed quite easily for smaller birds: You can sprinkle them over fresh or cooked bird food or over seed mixes. Alternatively dehydrated beans can be fed as a snack. It is important to remember that fresh and dehydrated foods contain equal amounts of nutritive and caloric values. It is important to remember this when divvying dehydrated foods out; if you ordinarily give your bird five fresh beans, then give it only five dehydrated beans and so on. Although it might look like you are only feeding a small portion of food, remember that what counts is the caloric value not the portion size. Dehydrating does not remove anything but water from a food. No essential nutrients are removed in that process whatsoever. Note: There are no other foods or additives in my bean mixes; it consists of 100% dehydrated beans.
